After you download the new skins files, put them here:
C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Shared\Graphics

This is what worked for me.
Make a new folder on your desktop.
When you unzip the skins put them in that new folder.
Then copy them all when finished.
Go to program files and open up Yahoo and keep opening until you see the "graphics" folder. Open that up and paste all the skins into them.
Shut down your messenger and open it back up and your skins are in there.
