Killing animals for skins..What do you think of it?

I think it's horrible. People arn't aware that there are alternitives to animal hide. Leather to me is okay to wear(my mom has a coach purse and I bought my dog a coach collar with my allowance). I think thats okay since other parts of the cow are used. But deer skins,theres no way people will use a deer for anything else.(I mean really who the heck eats deer meat these days?) I think animals should only be killed for meat since their essential in the human diet. But killing animals to get a shiny trophy or a cool jacket is insainly rediculous!!! Theres a thing called silk or yarn or satin...jeese people. Anyone who has killed a wild animal for skin should be punished. I know theres vegetarians out there that dont think you should kill animals for any reason. But some animals have to have some meat. Youve watched a lion kill a widabeast or zebra on animal planet right? They have to. Same goes with us.

I agree with you. It is terrible how people are so mean. Like you said, animals should only be killed for meat (No offense to all you vegetarians out there. You are helping a good cause.). It is silly that people go and shoot all animals for sport. I mean we have AFL, Soccer, Rugby, Tennis, Basketball, Hockey, Netball and lots others. Who would want more?? Why kill animals for entertainment! Plus, it is making a lot of animals endangered, and we don't want them to end up as dead as a dodo!

Reply:I agree. No animal should be killed just for the hide or trophy. However, if that's all the person wants and perhaps gives the meat to someone else, that would be ok. Actually there is alot of people that do like deer meat. Deer meat is good and is better for you than cow becaise it has less fat.
Reply:Trophy killing is just plain wrong. I have an idea that maybe animals should get people skin coats, just to prove a point...can't you just see that cute lil Jack Russell terrior wearing a nice people-skin vest? Killing for adornment is barbaric and selfish. Mostly the skins in the greatest demand are from endangered animals, and once they are gone, there's no resurrection. Good point you are making here.
Reply:I think that the killing of poor, innocent animals is unquestionably horrible. Meat is a part of my diet, although killing them to have a jacket or any type of clothing is so wrong and not even necessary! I actually heard that someone from an animal rights organization showed Paris Hilton a video of an animal being killed for their fur,and ever since she has worn faux fur. I totally agree with you on the fact that they should only be killed for food. Snobby rich people think that wearing fur is so called "fashionable" and I think that this is one of the reasons these beautiful and exotic animals are becoming extinct. It is a good thing that we have animals rights organizations. Hopefully these people will be more aware of this in the future. I'm with ya girl! Hunting should also be banned as a sport. What kind of sport is it killing poor animals? If you are homeless or something, and you have to, then that might would be okay. When I become older I want a job that has something to do with helping animals. It is just plain wrong to kill animals for fun so that you can hang their heads on someones walls, or wear an expensive coat. Well, I hope that this answered your question. Bye!
Reply:ok you are trying to say that going out hunting is wrong. for one deer meat is actually kinda tasty i have about a five pound roast of deer meat in my freezer right now. second if we dont hunt "game animals such as deer, elk, pheasent, and things like that, but take their land they will start to become a bother in more ways then just one.


second most people that go hunting try to use the entire animal skin, and meat, and usually leave the entrails behind for other animals adding to the circle of life. to add to this i dont hunt, but i might think of doing it some day.


third it helps control the population of the animals, because of your fore fathers hunting wild game such as wolves, and bear, the actual predators of the other animals someone as to step in and control the others or they will starve, and start weakening themselves through over population.


im not saying that your view point is wrong but take a step back and look at the big picture. a few years a go in the twin cities they had to extend the hunting season to control the deer population, and it has happened in other parts of the country too.


granted hunting an animal for just the skin is wrong, but i say if the person can use the meat, skin , and leave some for other animals such as the bones and entrails way not let them hunt and be happy with it.
Reply:I completely agree with you. Killing animals for skin is disgusting. Who wants to wear skin? I think it is so awful.


(Just to let you know, the hunter I know (just one) ate the deer meat, and he made it into jerky and then told me to eat it and didn't tell me what it was, but then he told me and I felt like I just ate Bambi's mom) At least they ate it but I don't think it is right to kill things. I am rambling aren't I? Sorry. Totally agree with you.
Reply:1. Yes, I agree with you. Animals should not be murdered for fashion (honestly, fur-trimmed purses?!? What, afraid your credit cards will get cold?)


2. Meat actually is not essential. I've been a vegetarian since I was 11, and I'm as healthy as the next person (if not healthier..the things people put in food these days! All those chemicals..).


3. I don't think animals should be killed unless it's what keeps you alive. If you go out and kill an animal *because you want it as food* when the supermarket is 5 minutes away, then I don't agree with you. But, if you live out in the woods and you have to live off the animals to survive, then it's perfectly fine as long as you kill them humanely. But ONLY if it's a matter of life and death.

Reply:I totally agree with you. I recently bought a house and the guy in the house up behind me (I'm on a hill) brought me a potted plant one of the first days I was there. Not a bad looking guy, single, owns a house AND a business - HMM!! He asked if I'd like to go for a drink sometime and I said sure.





Well a week or so after that I was expecting a FedEx package and found out it'd been accidentally delivered to his house. So I walked up the hill. I'd been wanting to see inside his house so he showed me around. There on the one wall - this HUGE bear from the waist up. Next to that - a wild boar head. Next to that - another bear head. Next to that - a turkey. Everywhere I looked were all these poor animals. And all posed as they tend to do with them - in attack position.





I felt like I was going to faint - and I found it hard to breathe. I said "Did you kill these?" and he proudly went "Yeah with a crossbow!!" I thought I was going to throw up - the thought of all these poor animals shot with an arrow. Maybe several times until they died. Or shot if the arrows didn't do it. "And the raccoon? What'd you do? Stake out your garbage can?" I asked him. He said "Oh don't mind all them.. after the divorce I went a bit over manly in my decorating, I guess." I said "Well it doesn't make you look manly - it makes you look cruel. I REALLY have to get out of here." Then I RAN as fast as I could back to my house.





He invited me over for a barbecue on the 4th and I politely told him I could never step inside his home again. And no - I would never go out with him. I couldn't have the hands of a murderer like that touching me - it'd be against everything I believe in.
